Adirondack Ice Climbing Weekend

For this weekend adventure, we'll pick you up at the train station in Poughkeepsie, NY, and drive up together to the Adirondacks. There we'll stay in a cabin and spend the next two days climbing at one of the many great locations - Chapel Pond, Cascade Pass, Wilmington Notch, Poke-O-Moonshine, etc. Sunday after the climbing, we'll pack up and get you back to the train station around 6:30pm for the 6:54pm train to NYC.

What's provided:
Alpine Endeavors' guide(s), transportation*, lodging for Friday and Saturday night, and all technical climbing equipment needed is provided.

What's not provided:
Clothing suitable for the weather, a three-season sleeping bag, all meals (with the abundance of great dining options we can discuss your preferences and explore), gratuities, and other expenses.


*This program has a required minimum number of 2 participants to run.

Here's a sample itinerary:

Friday:

5:30 pm - meet at the Poughkeepsie Train Station*
6 pm - if we don't hear from you in advance to gather the gear you need, we'll stop by Rock and Snow to get outfitted
6:30 pm - depart for the Adirondacks
9:45 pm - arrive at cabin - either Alpine Club of Canada Keene Farm, or similar location

Saturday:
7am - wake up, pack and head out for breakfast and grab lunch.
8:30 am - Head to one of the climbing areas and climb for the day
5 pm - After climbing, we'll head for dinner in Keene Valley or Lake Placid
7:30 pm - Back at the cabin to rest and prep for tomorrow

Sunday:
7am - wake up, pack and head out for breakfast and grab lunch
8:00 am - Head to one of the climbing areas and climb for the day
2:30 pm - After climbing, we'll start our drive back to Poughkeepsie, stopping for lunch on the way
6:30 pm - Arrive back at the Poughkeepsie train station for the 6:54 departure to NYC


The Keene Farm provides a two-story log cabin, situated on a small pine knoll overlooking the Ausable Valley, is open year-round, with wood stoves for heating and propane gas for cooking and lights. The cabin has a large, fully equipped kitchen, an eating/sitting area and two large sleeping rooms upstairs with foam mattresses. Sleeping bags are required.

*If you choose to drive, we can meet you at a different location, whether it's more north, or at the climbing site. Please contact us in advance so we can prepare.
*If you miss the train, we will not be able to wait for you. You would need to arrange for other transportation to get to the climbing or lodging area.
